Type Locality and Naming

Lithology and Thickness

Claystone (Argillites), siltstone (aleurolites), fine-grained polymictic sandstones with rare layers of gravelites, conglomerates, and lenses of limestones. Thickness 150-650m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It lies conformably on the Koytash Fm and Kelyvasay Fm.

Upper contact

In the Koytash depression, it is overlain by the coarse-clastic rocks of the Farish Fm, which, according to V.V. Mikhailov, have a transgressive or disturbed contact. (165; 439; 460).

Regional extent

Northern Nuratau, Mikhin-Daristanskaya, Koytashskaya, Merishkorskaya, Shokhetauskaya structures, northern slope - from the lower course of the Kesken River to the middle course of the Hayat River, southern slope of the Koytashskiy range.

Fossils

Contains plant remains - Asterophyllites ex gr. equisetiformis Brongn; foraminifera - Neostaffella topilini extensa (Sol.) ms., Profusulinella ex gr. rhomboides (Lee et Chen), Aljutovella saratovica (Putrja et Leont.), Priscoidella znensis (Raus.), Hemifusulina consobrina Raus., Fusulinella subpuchra (Putrja), Moellerites subcolaniae (Reitl.), Citronites citronoides (Man.).
